Breville Juicer Specs

Breville juicers come in two types. They make the centrifugal style juicer and the masticating slow juicer. These two types refer to how the juice is made in the machine. Below we’ll discuss how each juicer type works.

Centrifugal

breville juicer as centrifugal juicer with container

Centrifugal juicers are by far the most common type of juicer available on the market. This type of juicer works by a blade grinding the fruit or vegetable at high speeds to separate the juice from the pulp. The pulp is spat into a pulp bin away from the juice. Centrifugal juicers work very quickly to produce juice, but the extraction process isn’t as efficient.

Masticating Slow Juicer

The technology used in masticating juicers works differently. Instead of grinding the fruit or vegetable, this machine spins at low speed to crush the juice out. Masticating juicers are more efficient juicers and leave a small amount of pulp in the juice, but it separates most of the pulp out. These machines take more time to operate and cost substantially more than a centrifugal juicer. Masticating juicers run much more quietly than the alternative.

Recipes

One of the most confusing aspects of juicing is figuring out which fruits and vegetables to combine to make a good tasting juice. Not all combinations taste great.

To save time and money, check out the Food Thinkers website by Breville. Enter the search term “juice” into the search field to retrieve great tasting recipes such as the Morning Jolt, Super Protector, and the Turbo Charge juices all presented in video format. Not only do you get a recipe, but you also get helpful step-by-step instructions for how to prepare juice with your Breville juicer.

Cleaning

disassembled juicer

Juicers with fewer detachable parts are usually the easiest to clean, and many Breville juicer models fit into this category. A juicer is always easier to clean when the mess is fresh. Waiting too long to clean your Breville juicer could make cleaning more laborious and stressful than necessary.

Many Breville juicers are dishwasher safe, but it may be more efficient to hand wash your juicer unless you are immediately running a load of dishes.

“Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”

After appearing in the Joe Cross nutrition documentary “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead,” Breville juicers saw a massive spike in sales in North American. In the documentary, Cross brings a Breville juicer on a 60-day road trip to help transform his life through the power of green juice.

Pricing

The Breville brand creates and sells juicers at a wide range of prices. One of the best things about buying a Breville juicer is that no matter which model you buy, you are purchasing a quality machine.

  • 1000-watt juicer with 2 speed controls, high (13,000 rpm) and low (6,500 rpm)
  • Die-cast steel housing; stainless-steel micromesh filter; titanium-plated cutting disk

The Breville RM-800JEXL Die-Cast Juice Fountain Elite is the only Breville juicer on our list that is works through mastication. This juicer extracts the maximum amount of juice from each fruit or vegetable fed into the chute. The motor runs at 240 watts and spins 80 RPM for quietly efficient processing.

Ease of Use (5-Star Rating System) 3 Stars

Setting up the Fountain Elite is relatively easy despite having many parts to sort through. However, the machine can be somewhat difficult to clean when not cleaned immediately. Some parts may stick when trying to remove them from the machine. This happens at times with the basket.

Performance (5-Star Rating System) 4 Stars

As a masticating juicer, the Breville RM-800JEXL slowly obliterates fruits and vegetables to retrieve juice. This produces a different juice quality from centrifugal juicers. Yes, juice is produced more slowly on this machine, but what you get is a smooth drink with fine pulp. The juice produced from this masticating slow juicers is thicker, like the bottled juice you’d buy in a store. The machine works well for extracting juice from greens. You must take short breaks when juicing on this machine.

Design Quality (5-Star Rating System) 3 stars

The technology design of this masticating Breville juicer is great. They have perfected the art of slow juice making. The body design of the RM-800JEXL Die-Cast Juice Fountain Elite by Breville is a little less than we’d expect from a an average priced juicer. It is made entirely of “painted premium” plastic.

Warranty (5-Star Rating System) 5 stars

A warranty covers the Breville RM-800JEXL for one year after purchase.

Pros

  • Makes a delicious juice with minimal foaming
  • Produces very dry pulp
  •  Juice keeps fresh longer

Cons

  • If you don’t like pulp in your juice, pass on this Breville juicer
  • The machine is difficult to clean
  • Takes longer to make juice
  • This juicer has an expensive price point

Conclusion

Overall, every Breville juicer has its pros and cons, but all juicers do. The Breville brand makes a good variety of juicers to fit the most budgets. The features on the cheapest Breville juicer are still great enough to make many servings of high-quality, fresh juice. The more expensive models always have more features and are usually made from a more sturdy construction material. All Breville juicer models are exceptional for the price.
