Hamilton Beach Juicer: Our Honest Review

Woman using hamilton beach juicer

The Hamilton Beach Juicer is one among many small appliances made by this enduring company and a popular juicer for quick juicing, space saving, and clean-up. Juicing enthusiasts know that beyond making delicious fruit and vegetable juice, a competitive juicer must have dishwasher-safe parts so clean-up is easy and fast. But anyone with juicing experience also knows these fabulous small juicers are an investment. We compared the Hamilton Beach Juicer to a few blenders like the Ninja to help you decide on healthy breakfast and snack options.

What Is the Hamilton Beach Juicer?

This juicer is an affordable starter juicer that easily handles apples, oranges, tropical fruits, and berries but also blasts through vegetables of all kinds to add that healthy green element. The Hamilton Beach Juicer collects pulp separately in a large bin (some juicing devotees like to add back in for fiber) and produces several cups of juice in its juice reservoir. This little juicer saves counter space, can be swiftly disassembled for clean-up of parts by hand or in the dishwasher, and produces juice to add to sauces, drink on the spot, or use in bakes and soups. We’ve chosen the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Pro for review.

The Hamilton Beach Juicer Big Mouth Pro 6765H is an affordable unit with large pulp container for continuous juicing. The 16-ounce cup holds plenty of juice and between fiber catcher and cup, continuous juicing is easy to accomplish. The Hamilton Beach juicer uses a centrifugal motor which spins at high speed to desiccate any vegetable or fruit added. The Big Mouth Pro is designed for the most efficient use, with a top-loading feeder chute, easy to disassemble parts, and an eye-catching chrome exterior. The size of the Hamilton Beach juicer isn’t small, but smaller than most juicers with this power profile.

Pricing

Hamilton Beach juicers are made to be affordable, and the Big Mouth Pro comes in at $ new. It can be found for somewhat less on the used market.

How It Compares

We picked a few similar products available on the market to see how they compare for creating a healthy and delicious array of foods and beverages.

  • Vitamix 750
  • Ninja Chef High Speed
  • Cleanblend Blender

Hamilton Beach Juicer

This juicer comes in a chrome exterior, with a stainless steel blade and reservoir and feed chute made from plastic. It uses the most popular juicing mechanism—centrifugal blades—to crush fruit and veggies into a smooth liquid, extracting pulp for discarding or adding back in.

Ease of Use

This starter juicer has a wide mouth for depositing large chunks of fruit. Half an apple is fine, so cutting and slicing fruits and vegetables into bits isn’t necessary. The wide-mouthed fruit and veggie chute comes with a large handle for tamping down foods into the interior of the juicer. Simple and uncomplicated, this juicer’s only mystery is the giant-sized pulp collector and somewhat smaller juice collecting cup. The juicer is activated, once plugged in, by adding fruits or veggies to the feed chute.

Performance

While it juices any fruit, the Hamilton Beach Juicer will tend to produce a little foam with citrus juices. Fibrous greens (such as kale) take a little more work so this juicer isn’t ideal for large amounts of greens. Veggies like cukes and zucchini work well, and berries are juiced with seed removal. The engine isn’t the most powerful, and this juicer doesn’t user twin-gear technology like the hefty Champion, but for the price, the performance is consistently good.

Design Quality

Centrifugal juicers in this price range tend to have one design: top load the fruit and provide a pitcher for the juice and a separate pitcher for the pulp. The best-designed juicers in this category are small and compact but provide enough room for two or more cups of juice. We find the juice reservoir somewhat small, but the pulp reservoir is roomy. The compact size of the machine is excellent and the juicer can stay on the countertop without the need for storage between uses. The parts are easily disassembled for cleaning, and each reservoir can be washed out quickly. Most parts are dishwasher safe.

Warranty

The Big Mouth Pro is only available through third-party sellers on Amazon, either used or new. New models come with varying warranties.

Pros

  • Large and deep feeder chute
  • Sturdy base
  • Affordable
  • Handles any fruit
  • 16-oz cup
  • Large pulp reservoir
  • Clean up easy
  • Dishwasher safe parts

Cons

  • Not the greatest for fibrous greens
  • Warranties vary
  • Standard model only through third-party sellers

Vitamix 750

  • Low-Profile 64-ounce Container: Perfect for family meals and entertaining, while fitting comfortably under most kitchen...

Vitamix makes a line of blenders that compete with juicers on nutrition since their powerful blender technology crushes any fruit or veggie but retains the pulp. Vitamix has promoted using the whole food since its inception and is known for making the most powerful, well-crafted blender available for consumers. Vitamix products are often used in commercial applications. This blender does what a juicer does but keeps the fiber and is much easier to clean.

Ease of Use

Vitamix pioneered dual switch design, with one switch at “low” or “high” power and the other functioning as a dial that can increase the “low” setting to reach almost as much power as the “high” setting. The Vitamix 750 has improved its variable speed technology with five preset choices for blending to liquifying, and highest speed on the dial will make short work of whatever has been added to the 64-ounce container. It allows for super easy cleanup, with a plastic bin that isn’t too heavy but is built from thick material. It has a strong, sturdy, and stable base and a low profile container for tucking underneath counter cabinets.

Performance

The metal drive system means this blender will last thousands of hours and if operated properly, decades. This is the only blender you will ever need to buy and Vitamix replaces any parts. The only part likely to need replacement is the metal drive system—and only if the blender is pulled from its base before coming to a complete stop, over several years—but Vitamix will send a new one if needed and it’s easily installed. This blender is incredibly powerful and not too noisy.

Design Quality

Vitamix has improved on its design by offering a sturdy and stable base but a lower profile container. Past Vitamix blenders have been built tall and often could not be stored underneath upper kitchen cabinets. The 750 has a generous container but is a better companion to countertop small appliances by not hogging counter space. The variable speed with a dial is a fantastic design and flipping the front switch couldn’t be simpler. The hardened stainless steel blades and cool running motor only add to the durability and quiet Vitamix hum.

The lifetime warranty is accompanied by professional and helpful customer service.

  • Destroys the competition
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Durable parts
  • Easy to use
  • Powerful
  • Long cord
  • Variable speed with dial
  • Creates enough heat to make soups

Cons

  • Expensive

The Ninja is the new kid on the block everyone is talking about. Accompanied by the famous “Ninja Cup” system, this little blender is both affordable and easy to operate.

Ease of Use

The Ninja Cup, a mini-blender for a quick blend and portable smoothie, puts the Ninja at the head of the blender pack. The blender itself has a sturdy plastic handle and top, thick plastic reservoir, and is large enough to prepare drinks or meals for a family. The Ninja cup is truly innovative, but the settings on this blender are reminiscent of a microwave and take some getting used to. We love the dial for variable speed, but the lower panel we could do without. The to-go cup is a fantastic leap forward in blender technology. The sturdy handle and lid are the best of this blender and juicer review bunch.

Performance

This blender doesn’t rival the power of the Vitamix or Cleanblend, and most of its innovation is in design. Steel parts and washable components make it easy to clean, and the tamper gives some options for blending batters and mashed potatoes, but overall this just doesn’t have the power of more expensive blenders. The removable pro exactor blades assembly of the cup makes it easy to remove, flip, and use as a glass in the car on the morning commute. This feature is wonderful, but if you don’t drink morning smoothies, redundant. Ninja does make more powerful models (and they come with cups, too).

Design Quality

This is a clever and well-designed machine that has improved on the basic blender. The Ninja cup will sell many customers who want to take a homemade cappuccino or healthy smoothie on the road as they head out the door. The blender design is also excellent, with a Vitamix look and easy to see and read buttons. We can’t give it five stars because the options for blending are too complicated. But for the right customer who likes to travel with a creamy and delicious blended fruit smoothie – the star rating goes way beyond five!

Warranty

Warranties vary from one to five years and depend on where the unit was purchased. The five-year warranty applies to blenders purchased directly from Ninja.

Pros

  • Great for on-the-go smoothies
  • Powerful enough for most needs
  • Sturdy and functional handle, top, tamper
  • Nice looking
  • Cup doubles as a mini-blender

Cons

  • Tall and large
  • Limited warranty
  • Too many programming options

Cleanblend Blender

  • CLEANBLEND IS AN ALL IN ONE APPLIANCE that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milk shakes, cappuccinos,...
  •  FOOD GRADE STAINLESS STEEL 8 BLADE SYSTEM with sealed ball bearing for maximized blending every time....

  •  PULSE FEATURE AND VARIABLE SPEED CONTROL, BPA Free Tamper wand for extreme processing power

The Ninja is the new kid on the block everyone is talking about. Accompanied by the famous “Ninja Cup” system, this little blender is both affordable and easy to operate.

Ease of Use

Cleanblend charts no new territory in blending and has copied Vitamix in design. The basic design is simple, and the carafe isn’t too heavy to preclude quick removal and hand washing. Cleaning requires little elbow grease, and nothing about this blender makes preparing a smoothie difficult. The switches and buttons are an improvement over standard blenders, using variable speed settings. A recipe book accompanies all purchases of new Cleanblends, and this helps take advantage of using all the features. The 64-ounce container is generous

Performance

This blender will take the consistency of foods from liquid to creamy. The quality of smoothies is superior, and the ability to prepare soups and batters, like the Vitamix, puts the performance of the Cleanablend near the top.

Design Quality

The upgraded electric motor reset button should improve on problems with older designs that sometimes because wobbly due to design engineering of the jar and handle interface. Comes with variable speed settings, tamper that goes almost to the bottom but just above the blades, and a nut milk bag for straining. The 8-blade system will prepare smoothies, soups, cappuccino, nut milks, and batters with ease. The boxy look and problems with consistency are the only reason we’ve removed a star—and, at 18″ by 15″ by 13″ it is large for all countertops.

Warranty

A five-year warranty is great, but it doesn’t compare to a Vitamix. This unit is well-constructed however and with proper care, will probably last a decade or more.

Pros

  • Powerful
  • Rivals Vitamix with multiple recipes
  • Affordable
  • Sturdy design
  • Quality components
  • Tamper
  • Excellent customer service

Cons

  • Tall
  • Design inconsistencies
  • Boxy look

Conclusion

Blender or juicer? Juicing concentrates nutrients while fiber is optional, for a light and refreshing addition to breakfast. But some prefer a full breakfast in liquid form, hence the popularity of the travel Ninja blender or the powerhouse Vitamix. We recommend the Hamilton Beach juicer for juicing at an affordable price, and for blending needs we prefer the Cleanblend for its performance, power, and price.
